Dugi Otok, the "Long Island" off Zadar, is a paradise for adventurers. This day takes you to three must-see spots: Golubinka Cave, abandoned military bunkers and a sunken ship you can snorkel.
Golubinka Cave
The cave near Brbinj is famous for the light pouring in through the rock and its crystal-clear water. It's an amazing spot for snorkeling, freediving and deep-water soloing, and a few sketchy ledges inside are perfect for cliff jumping.
Abandoned military bunkers
Further along the coast you'll find several abandoned bunkers you can jump off. They look amazing from the inside too.
The sunken ship
The wreck is a favourite with snorkelers and freedivers. It's home to lots of marine life and makes a great underwater photo subject. It lies very shallow, so most snorkelers can reach it.

Best Time to Visit
Summer
Summer (June to September) brings warm, calm water and great visibility for snorkeling and freediving. Early or late summer is less crowded.
Difficulty
Easy-Medium-Hard
Snorkeling and swimming in the cave are easy; cliff jumping and freediving are harder. Jump heights vary, so pick spots that match your level. Around the wreck and the cave entrance there can be currents, so be a solid swimmer.

With the cave, the bunkers and the wreck, plus the trip to the island, plan a full day.
Reachability
Car
Take the ferry from Zadar to Brbinj. You can reach Golubinka by boat, or drive to Brbinjšćica Bay and rent a kayak there. We recommend the boat: kayaking takes much longer and you'd miss the shipwreck. For a car or scooter, rent one on the island or bring your own on the ferry.

Wear water shoes: the coastline is rocky and slippery.
Bring plenty of water, snacks and sunscreen. There are few facilities in these remote spots.
Check the weather and sea conditions before you go, especially if you plan to kayak or freedive.
Before jumping, always check the water depth and look for submerged rocks.
If you rent a car, get full insurance. Some roads are in poor condition.
