Discover Cima Capi Via Ferrata: Lake Garda's Ultimate Viewpoint
Looking for the most epic view over Lake Garda? The Via Ferrata Fausto Susatti up Cima Capi is one of the best activities to do near Riva del Garda. From Biacesa di Ledro, a forest approach leads to cabled limestone ledges hanging right above the lake.
At the sticker-covered summit flag, Riva, Torbole and the Arco valley spread out below your feet. Loop back down on the Via Ferrata Mario Foletti, past First World War tunnels and trenches. Expect a medium-difficulty route of about 3-5 hours, so bring a helmet, harness and via ferrata set, and arrive early because parking is tight. Stoked for one of the best via ferratas on Lake Garda? Gear up and go send it!
Key details for Cima Capi Via Ferrata: Lake Garda's Ultimate Viewpoint
Best Time to Visit
Spring-Summer-Fall
Spring and autumn are the sweet spot, with mild temperatures and crisp lake views. Summer works too, but the sun-exposed rock gets hot, so start early. Skip wet days, when the polished limestone turns slippery.
Difficulty
Medium
The Susatti is rated B, with cables, a few stemples and exposed ledges rather than vertical walls. The Foletti on the way down is a touch harder (B/C) in places. A good head for heights and basic via ferrata experience are recommended.
Duration
3-5 hours
Plan around an hour for the approach from Biacesa, 1-1.5 hours on the Susatti to the summit, and 1.5-2 hours for the descent via the Foletti, plus time for summit photos.
Reachability
Car/Public Transport
The start is in Biacesa di Ledro, a short drive up from Riva del Garda, where parking spaces are scarce, so arrive early. Buses between Riva and Val di Ledro also stop in Biacesa.

Essential tips for your visit to Cima Capi Via Ferrata: Lake Garda's Ultimate Viewpoint
Parking in Biacesa di Ledro is very limited. Get there early, and never park illegally or block the road. The bus has to get through the village.
The Via Ferrata Susatti is climbed one way only, so you go up the Susatti and come back down via the Mario Foletti.
Bring a helmet, harness, via ferrata set and gloves. A headlamp makes the WWI tunnels along the Foletti much more fun.
There's no water on the route, and the limestone soaks up the sun. Pack plenty to drink, and on hot days start in the morning.
The summit flag is plastered with stickers from climbers around the world. Bring one and leave your mark! Check the official route info for current conditions before you go.
